OUT NOW: GOLD DUBS - BULLION SKY EP

Thu, 1 June 2017

Run Tingz spark up the dance with a little Lionfire as longstanding junglist Gold Dubs joins the party. Firstly, he links up with Da Fuchaman once again for a sing-along pro-sticky, anti-inequality skank-out "My Erb". Secondly, he rips a huge hole on your soul with a break-shattering, rave-referencing shock-out "Mash Up". Thirdly, he saddles up with Carasel for a spooked out ride through the darkest corners of the techy roller universe. Fourthly, he shuts the shop with what appears to be a light-footed jazzy stepper before dropping into a vicious waspy bass aesthetic. Fifthly, don't sleep on this!

RUN TINGZ REMIXES: VOLUME 2 - (OUT NOW)

Mon, 1 August 2016

OUT NOW!

Buy exclusively from Juno Download:
tinyurl.com/RTZD013

Label: Run Tingz Digital
Catalogue Number: RTZD013
Release Date: 19.08.16 (Juno Download Exclusive)
Format: Digital

1. Serial Killaz & Run Tingz Cru - Murder Ya Sound ft. Tenor Fly & Blackout JA (Serum remix)
2. Run Tingz Cru - It's a Junglist Ting ft. David Boomah & Blackout JA (Levela Remix)
3. Run Tingz Cru - Took My Breath ft. Solo Banton & Lady Fyah (Gold Dubs Remix)
4. Run Tingz Cru - Drop Call ft. Tenor Fly & Lady MC (Koznik & Khavy Remix)

Volume Two has arrived. Four Run Tingz tracks get the remix treatment on RTZD013 just in time for summer. Featured are some of the most successful tracks in the label's history, harking back as far as the fifth release on wax back in 2011. The boys have enlisted the capable talents of Serum, Levela, Gold Dubs & Koznik & Khavy to give their take on four classic riddims that shaped the label over the past half-decade.

D&B heavyweight Serum takes on the undeniable might of the late Tenor Fly's vocal onslaught in his remix of Serial Killaz & Run Tingz Cru's 'Murder Ya Sound' - his trademark stabs accompany, what could be described as, an unconventional beat. This one's been sitting in the wings for a while and it's great to see it finally get a release.

Next up, Levela applies what can only be described as twenty first century savagery to 2012's 'It's A Junglist Ting'. The skill in successfully utilizing the top notch vocal talents of both David Boomah & Blackout JA on a Jump Up track is not something that should be taken lightly; Levela delivers big time with this ferocious number.

Recent label regular Gold Dubs provides the rolling Jungle vibes for his remix of 'Took My Breath'. One of the best tracks from the Bristol back-cat gets a fresh lick of paint and it does not disappoint in the slightest! Lady Fyah's iconic hook is preceded by rumbling analogue sounding bass that plays out over the drop following a hair raising reggae-skank-laden intro. Contender for pick of the bunch.

Belgian duo Koznik & Khavy provide us with our second dose of Jump Up. Super tight drum work and inventive use of Tenor Fly's vocal make for a captivating intro - come the drop though it's head nod central as the EP is rounded off in upfront style.

J-Man's unwavering work ethic is celebrated by Run Tingz Digital in the form of the follow up to his debut 2014 single 'Road Block ft. Parly B'. This time around he has enlisted the unfaltering vocal capabilities of both Daddy Freddy & Blackout JA to endorse what can only be described as a top notch high energy ragga-roller - one of the strongest releases on the the Digital imprint to date.

Kill Dem Again's high energy onslaught ensues with the familiar raspy aberrations of both Freddy and Blackout, before rolling out into a clean cut modern day jungle sound, fitting of title track status.

The flip is a remix by label newcomers Koznik & Khavy - gnarly ragga jump up executed to a high standard by a Belgian duo who also have an EP forthcoming on one of Run Tingz' sister labels Drum Clone Records.

FESTIVALS, HIGH VIBES AND WINTER BELLIES... INTRODUCING KURSIVA

Mon, 6 April 2015

With a fresh Season, a fresh signing and the wind firmly behind us, we caught up with the latest member of the Run Tingz Familia, Juan Antonio González Gómez, otherwise known as Kursiva, to find out where it all started.

What's your musical background?

My first musical interests were Rap-Metal & Hip Hop, I tried out a few instruments like the Drums and Guitar, eventually finding the turn-tables where I discovered the scratch game. It was really addictive, I started a Hip Hop band with my friends in 2007, I used to play beats and scratch for them, a while later I discovered electronic music in the form of Break Beat, and soon after Drum & Bass; I fell in love with it and started playing sets at raves and small clubs. I started my own production in 2010, I had loads of ideas in my head, a good friend showed me how to use Reason and how to write on a DAW, I love production because it lets you express yourself without words, straight from the brain to the subwoofer!

What are your influences as a DJ and a Producer?

Well, in terms of production, Noisia gives me the power, Sub Focus gives me the melodies and Mooncat really pushed me towards Ragga Jungle and Dubwise. Andy C and Crissy Criss are big DJ influences and I have a similar style on the decks; quick mixes, double drops and crowd damage!

Tell us more about the Jungle scene in Spain?

The Jungle scene in Spain is growing, fast. There's a lot home grown producers delivering big tunes, which are getting support from DJ's and fans across the world. I'm honored to be a part of this movement; I never imagined my music would be heard by anyone except my friends and my neighbors.

What's your most memorable experience as a DJ?

It was a festival in Firenze, Italy. I couldn't see much traffic or people going in and we assumed it was going to flop; we went to have a drink and came back to more than 4000 people in front of the stage! It was my first experience playing out of Spain and I'd never played for that amount of heads, I smashed a big Drum & Bass set and everybody loved it, everyone was shaking my hand when I finished which made me feel slightly embarrassed but blessed at the same time. So blessed in fact that I left my Serato plugged into the mixer, I only realized when we were boarding the plane back home, it was an expensive lesson but a big experience all the same!

So… High Vibes, what's the vibe?

I started working on this tune at the beginning of 2014 when I received the vocals from Jahba & Clasiko. I wrote the bass track in two days and then tried more than six different versions looking for the right sound. It took me about a year to tweak and finish it in amongst other tracks I'm working on, I would have carried on forever but Ed told me to draw a line, pat myself on the back and focus on my next project.

For the non-Spanish speaking amongst us, what's the message behind the vocals?

We have to move beyond our day-to-day lives to reach a higher place. It doesn't matter how rich you are, or how many possessions you have, the only thing in control of your freedom is you. A spiritual side to life that many people miss exists, I feel this is an important factor to our wellbeing and our inner health.

After such a strong debut release on Run Tingz, what's next music wise?

There's a remix of "No Diggity" from the Italian reggae band "Earth Beat Movement" with my mentor Mooncat; a remix of Benny Page´s "Top Rank Skank" in collaboration with Karlixx, due to be released soon on High Culture; a remix for Subtifuge with Gigante on the vocals; the Jungle & Dubwize EP coming on Dubwise Station alongside the French producer Badweed and my 2nd vinyl release on Druid Recordings at the end of the year. I´m also working on a Neurofunk project along side a producer called Voltage Voodoo and I think it´s time to start releasing a few tunes.

And what does the future holds for Kursiva?

Well nobody truly knows but I hope my music will be further supported out of Spain and I hope to get the chance to travel, connect with other Junglists and perform my music in other countries.

If you could change one thing about the world what would it be?

I would replace every cable in the world with wireless technology; I hate wires on my setups!

What's your favorite food?

I like to eat everything except tuna and peas. I think meat is my favorite kind of food, I love barbecues. I don't want to be a fat lazy guy in the future, sitting on a sofa and checking SoundCloud! I´m thinking of joining a gym so I can tweak my belly as well as my mix downs, its growing fast as the year goes on!

Any final words?

Big shouts to all the Junglists for appreciating my music and helping me to grow as an artist. Big shouts to Run Tingz as well for giving me the chance to join their family. This is just the beginning; I will work hard in studio to deliver more tunes for you guys. BIG TINGZ A GWAN!

You can listen to audio previews of High Vibes and Kother material on our OFFICIAL SOUNDCLOUD page.

TWO NEW 'SESSIONS' DATES ANNOUNCED IN EUROPE

Tue, 7 October 2014

We've just announced two new 'Sessions' dates in Europe, the first of which is to be held in Stockholm, Sweden, in association with Back2Back, on the 7th of November. The second event is the first in a new series of Dope Tingz events, in association with Amsterdam natives Cheeky Monday, on the 17th November.

RUN TINGZ SESSIONS "SWEDEN" - 7th November 2014

Run Tingz Recordings' first Nordic exploit is set to take Stockholm by storm, with an exclusive debut. Presenting, for the very first time at a Sessions event, a Manchester UK, based duo that it's fair to say are at the very forefront of forward thinking D&B. Dub Phizix has been topping charts for a good few years now and with his partner in crime, Strategy, their explosive performances as a well established partnership have gained critical acclaim from many corners of the industry.

Accompanying them, will be Run Tingz Recordings & Sessions custodians, Run Tingz Cru, YT performing a headline reggae PA in room two and an extensive local supporting cast.

DOPE TINGZ SESSIONS "AMSTERDAM" - 17th November 2014

Just 2 weeks after venturing to Stockholm for Run Tingz Sessions' first Nordic mission, Bristol's jungle powerhouse is convening alongside the Dope Ammo Records crew in Amsterdam, for the first in a new series of Dope Tingz events, in association with Amsterdam natives Cheeky Monday.

They've invited along the French boys from Hard Bass Dealers, to add further spark to the lineup, with Bristol lad Jack Wittz coming back into the fore after an impressive set at the 'Boomtown Sessions' takeover.

RUN TINGZ ORIGINALS 001 - FULLY LOADED (OUT NOW!)

Sun, 14 September 2014

12" and 7" Vinyl, plus full digital package available now!

At the start of 2014 Run Tingz broadcasted a succinct message of next level intentions; they weren't exaggerating.

Having exploding into the year with a spotless 'Best Of 2013' collection and J.Man's skank-savvy Jungle bomb 'Road Block', they're now ready to unleash their biggest, boldest and most confident manoeuvre to date; Run Tingz Originals. Building on their established pedigree for original vocal productions, Bristol's leading Jungle imprint digs deeper into the scene's inherent foundations with the first in a series of completely original musical compositions.

A document of fundamental roots and future; 'Fully Loaded' is poised to set the summer festival season ablaze. A joint-force creation by label manager Ed Garrett, Jungle Drummer's-protégé Tom Derryman (aka. Breakah) and guitar virtuoso Jonny Evans; recorded at the legendary J&J and Invader Studios in Bristol which are owned by none other than Portishead's Jim Barr and Geoff Barrow, the project is steeped in heritage and rich in contemporary production. Add to this the distinctive lyrical patter of German based vocalist Doubla J; the first of many future projects with Run Tingz, Doubla was headhunted by the label after last year's impeccable remix of Dread Squad's 'Full Time' on their 'Digital Rules' EP. A prize player in this multi-faceted project, his unique vocal talent is already setting a new benchmark in Jungle, Reggae, Hip Hop and Bass Music alike.

Built entirely from organic elements, everything from the warm organ blasts to the slick, sick guitar licks to the party-minded sample discharges and the full-bodied insatiable drums, everything about 'Fully Loaded' screams serious class and authenticity. Complete with Doubla's dancehall dynamics, it's the first time the label founders have expressed their influences, inspirations and passion at this level… And it leaves you hungry for more!

In-keeping with their top rankin Junglist profile, Run Tingz have also curated three killer remixes. Each one designed for raw floor devastation, they cover all corners of the ever-expanding Drum & Bass universe. First up is the signature UK Jungle remix from the Run Tingz Cru themselves. Retaining the big live drum swing and distinctive organ hums of the original, they super-charge the groove with finesse. With skippy breakbeats, mischievous fills and an arrangement that just keeps on giving, it takes the label founders full circle as they remix their own original material with full attention to dance floor destruction.

Next up is Levela. One of the scene's most unique individuals, Levela's productions have found their way across the world via the likes of Datsik and Skrillex. With a powerful jump up sound that has infiltrated ears way beyond the genre, Levela's profile is skyrocketing by the day. Check his gnarly bass-bugged rub of 'Fully Loaded' and you'll understand just why. Last but definitely not least is Run Tingz' very own J.Man. Fresh from causing his very own 'Road Block', the Bristol badman unleashes a deep Jungle jam that's underpinned with big bulbous subs, nagging skanks and drums that roll relentlessly. Instant dancefloor sweetness, J.Man has an innate ability to construct a riddim that fits vocals as if it's the original itself. This is no exception.

Next level intentions delivered with confidence and clarity: Expect heaps more killer productions in the near future. Locked and loaded in the Run Tingz roots chamber, this is the start of a very exciting adventure for the highly respected Bristol beat boutique.

Next level intentions delivered with confidence and clarity: Expect heaps more killer productions in the near future and keep your eyes peeled for the 'making of' documentary that will be available for your viewing pleasure on the Run Tingz website in the very near future. Locked and loaded in the Run Tingz roots chamber, this is the start of a very exciting adventure for the highly respected Bristol beat boutique.

The release marks the labels rekindled vinyl adventures and as well as the traditional 12" for the Jungle and DnB heads, the Original and Version are hitting the Reggae / Ragga community on 7" and with the exclusive to vinyl 'DJ Toolz' you can expect to hear it dropped at a sound clash near you.

In-keeping with their top rankin Junglist profile, Run Tingz have curated three killer remixes.

ARE DJ'S MUSICIANS? (INTERACTIVE TECHNOLOGY STUDY BY GARRETT, E. 2014)

Thu, 29 May 2014

The intention of this study is to explore the question; Does a non-musician using interactive technology to create music immediately become a musician?

Throughout this research, DJs will take the role of the 'non-musician' and there are two ambiguous terms within the question that must first be defined. What is interactive technology and what are musicians?

The term interactive means; 'allowing a two-way flow of information between a computer and a computer-user; responding to a user's input' (Oxford Dictionary, 2014). The computer or technologies in context include a range of modern DJ equipment and software that is far too vast to be covered comprehensively within the confines of this debate, therefore, attention has been given to Rane's Serato Scratch Live interface, Ableton Live 9 and the audio analyzing software Mixed In Key. The body of the research will cover the following areas, the history of the DJ and their role within the music industry, the definition of a musician, skills that are required of professional DJs, the use of interactive technology and the effect technology has on the classification of a non-musician's status. They will be addressed in this order.

The first ever disc-jockey took his place in history in 1909 (University of Florida, 2014) and some would argue that DJs now play a pivotal role in defining and developing cultural developments within music across the globe. As Broughton and Brewster state;  'DJs are more important than bands when it comes to radical shifts in music' (2006 P.6). DJs have a unique advantage in an ever evolving musical landscape, they have an entire world of music at their finger tips and are able to define current trends as well as draw upon timeless classics that any given genre has to offer. In contrast;

'A musician, however phenomenal, is boxed in by the range of their instrument, the extent of their back catalogue and the scope of their musical style. A DJ has none of these limitations. A DJ is free to play two records next to each other made thirty years apart, or two records from different continents, or to play the one great track from an artists otherwise hopeless career' (Brewster, B. Broughton, F. 2006, P.6).

It is not always clear how it is possible to define a musician (Masolo, C. et al 2004), the common dictionary definition is a person who plays a musical instrument, especially as a profession, or is musically talented. A professional DJ may be considered musically talented, even under the assumption that they do not play a traditional musical instrument or have any knowledge of music theory. Talent is often subjective to the listener as Leong explains;

'Musicianship is a conceptual term that we all use and whose meaning we think we have a sense of. Yet our understanding of musicianship both as a concept and perhaps as a set of skills … is shaped by our values and our experiences' (2003).

It is however possible to assess someone's level of skill by studying the techniques that established musicians or DJs use to accomplish their results.

'Some of what makes a musician good lies outside the realm of science, let alone acoustics, but acousticians can contribute to understanding good performance by researching the player-instrument interaction, aiming to understand how good players achieve their musical goals' (Wolfe et al 2013, p.1).

That practice makes perfect (Smith, P.4) is a well know theory, although a definitive amount of time is hard to pin point, in his best selling book Outliners, Malcolm Gladwell (2009) explores his theory that regardless of an individuals natural aptitude, 10,000 hours of appropriately guided practice is what it takes to achieve greatness. A study done in the early 1990s by the psychologist K. Anders Ericsson identified that elite performers had each totaled ten thousand hours of practice and by contract, the amateurs had totaled two thousand hours. Music journalist Harry Webley (2006) claims 'a truly great … DJ displays musicality, originality, skill and dedication. If you possess these qualities you have the right to call yourself a turntablist'.

In times gone by it may have been easier to identify whether someone was experienced in certain aspects of DJing skills; cuing and beat matching 'getting two records to play together at the same time' (Broughton, F & Brewster, B 2002, P.48) was done by ear and by hand on a pair of pitch adjustable record players or turntables, modern technology now exists that can perform these tasks automatically and at the touch of a button, therefor, the expertise of track selection and music programing may become much more significant in the assessment of a DJs level of skill and professionalism.

'At a time … where beat matching and mixing can be (and often are) achieved through the push of a software sync button, programming can be said to have returned as an important way to distinguish a DJ' (Fikentscher, K. 2013, P125).

This suggests that there is much more to being a good DJ than being able to beat match, anyone can stand in front of a pair of turntables and play a few tracks together, but the true stars are able to read a dance floor, anticipate a crowds reactions and select their material accordingly.

'Proper DJs don't just trot out a load of nice tunes, they think carefully about the time, the place and the people in front of them. This is the real skill in DJing and it doesn't come easily. Knowing music, finding music, understanding music, is something that takes years" (Broughton, F & Brewster, B 2002, P.12).

'There are a number of skills that are associated with electronic dance music DJs' (Yu, J 2013, P.151), Ben Drohan claims that 'a good DJ is one that looks comfortable behind the decks - they don't stress about beat-matching, song placement, track selection' (2010). This would suggest that the use of interactive technology to relieve the stress in certain aspects of the performance is potentially acceptable and could therefor assist DJs in becoming musicians.

Rane's Serato Scratch Live is a popular piece of technology amongst professional DJs 'with cueing, looping, keylock, the SP-6 Sample Player and DJ FX, its easy to see why Scratch Live is the best and the choice of pro DJs' (Serato, 2014). As well as creative applications, the interface analyses the BPM of a track and allows the user to automatically adjust the second track's tempo so that the BPM's match. Now although this doesn't completely remove the art of beat matching, it does make it considerably easier and will remove some of the practice that is necessary for a stress free performance. Ableton Live 9 is a Digital Audio Workstation developed by a Berlin-based music software company, it has a feature that will analyse the tempo of a song imported into the software and time stretch the audio in line with the project tempo, although further time and effort is required to program enough music for a whole performance, it will significantly reduce the effort required to beat match and will help the DJ to feel more comfortable behind the decks.

Playing two pre-recorded songs together is fairly straightforward, especially considering the technology mentioned above, however, understanding music, developing a collection and programming an entire set would normally take years of effort and true dedication.

'The real work of a DJ happens behind the scenes - searching dark record stores, devouring endless lists and daunting stacks of vinyl, and sniffing out the wonders they contain. Playing records is rarely hard work, but doing the research and amassing the knowledge to do it well is a full time job' (Broughton, F & Brewster, B 2002, P.12).

The third and final software in question, Mixed In Key, is an application that analyses audio files and calculates their musical key and BPM. The Camelot Wheel, a color-coded system invented by Mark Davis in 1991 is then used to assist the user in identifying their with compatible keys when considering their selection, this can reduce the amount of time needed to learn theory in order to construct a set that is harmonically pleasing.

In conclusion, we have to consider that if a professional DJ, or any one for that matter, has applied years of practice to the trade or is simply using technology to assist them in achieving the same results, then perhaps they should be considered as musically talented. Therefore, in my professional opinion and based on the research above, I believe that a non-musician using interactive technology to create music does immediately become a musician. This being said, although the technology may assist in their first steps, DJs or 'non musicians' do not automatically achieve musicianship status by simply performing the act of mixing two records together, that individual will need to dedicate time to perfecting their skills and understanding the music; the use of interactive technology may be able to accelerate this process as well as allowing for creative possibilities that may otherwise not have been possible.

'One may state … that DJs aren't musicians. However, I feel that the ability to skillfully use turntables … and computers to make music that people love makes these DJs artists/musicians' (Myer, M, p.21).

IT'S GONNA BE A ROADBLOCK

Wed, 2 April 2014

Available April 14th 2014 - Run Tingz Digital tears a hole into the new season with their first release of 2014. Living up to its name in every way, 'Road Block' is a party-packed skanker that's set to become a summer anthem.

It comes courtesy of the label's very own J.Man. Signed exclusively in 2013, his agenda-setting remixes of undisputed Run Tingz classics -  'Rock A Dub', 'Junglist Ting' and 'Jungle Champion' - have each scored prime position in the most discerning Drum & Bass Jungle selections.

His debut original project with the label, 'Road Block' will build on his already impressive profile: complete with his signature Jungle drumming and instantly recognisable horn riffs (taken from The Aggravators 'Rockers Almighty') it's the perfect complement to the impeccable lyrical talent of Doncaster's most demonstrative vocalist Parly B. Currently enjoying support and props from the UK's leading reggae ambassador David Rodigan, Parly's emphatic sermons ensure instant explosions in the dance. Warm, melodic and wholly compatible with J.Man's heavyweight groove, Parly's vocals and J.Man's sunshine sonics are a match made in Jungle heaven.

It's a road block on the remix front too. Straight out of their Bristol HQ, Run Tingz have invited exciting new West Country duo TerraHawk to the fray. Fresh from remixing Blak Twang's 'Rebel MC' the duo have unleashed a firing jam that spits and sizzles with contemporary Drum & Bass fire. All rifling breakbeats, immense bass pressure and a drop sharp enough to shave, TerraHawk confirm their place as one of the most exciting new D&B acts to emerge in the last year.

In an exciting new development for the label, the release offers added soundsystem gravitas in the form of Sleepy Time Ghost's Reggae and Bass Music infusions. Bulbous bass bubbles and a smouldering kick-and-skank groove, Sleepy's blessed the original with an array of deep space and authentic Jamaican promise. Slow, steady and solid enough to melt the hardest of crowds, Sleepy will keep your listeners wide awake from the offset.

One firing original, three vibing versions; Run Tingz Digital are tearing up the dance with promise… Jump on this now and cause a 'Road Block' today!

Firstly, we'd like to wish everyone a happy new year and hope you all welcomed it in in style! We're seriously looking forward to what we and the rest of our Jungle family have in store for the forthcoming year, which brings us on to our second point..

A new year… There's no better time for reflection: A chance to look back before you look forward. This is exactly what's happening at the Run Tingz HQ. Bristol's most exciting creative Junglist hub has studied their conquests of 2013 to present a walloping 10 track showcase of their best year to date.

And we mean best year: a new partnership with the stately distribution kings ST Holdings, legendary performances at Bestival and Boomtown Fair and a momentous warm up for Goldie at Glastonbury. New signings, massive EPs, and plenty more… Run Tingz have been a veritable tour de force on all corners of the dance floor throughout the year.

And the label is at the heart of operations: Fuelling all discerning Drum & Bass and Jungle DJs' selections with rock solid specials and impeccable originals from their ever-growing roster of talented producers and vocalists, Run Tingz distinctive tactics have received praise from across the board. From Aries & Gold's instant sing-along sound system smasher 'My Sound' to Dossa's skank-packed funk jam 'Rock a Dub' via YT's heartfelt ode to the remedy of roots 'Reggae Music', every Run Tingz Digital release is delivered with passion and raw power.

All these examples are included on this impeccable 'Best of' 2013 collection plus a whole load more. New additions to the catalogue include the previously unreleased remix of 'Informer' by the one and only Marcus Visionary and two more exclusive rubs: both Run Tingz Cru remixes of Blak Twang's 'Badda Dan Dat' and Dreadsquad's 'Full Time', both highly sought after and never released on the label before… Until now!

RUN TINGZ ANNOUNCE THE SIGNING OF RICKY TUFF (FINALLY)!

Fri, 23 August 2013

Back in April we completed a hat-trick of Spring signings and secured the services and on-going commitment from arguably one of the most promising new school Jungle and DnB producers on the planet! With the release of his first original productions for us "Close To Me" about to drop on the Cross Roads EP this coming Monday (26.08.13), we thought it was about time we made some noise about the brother and gave everyone the chance to get to know him. We give you... Ricky Tuff!

What is your musical background and what was the reason you started dj'ing and getting into production?

I started playing the guitar at a very young age (8 years old) and took my first music lessons at a local music school soon after. My music influences come from a lot of different styles, Latin music culture (Salsa, Merengue...) Rock, Metal, Hip Hop, Electronic but I guess what really influenced me to start dj'ing was the UK scene in the 90's, Jungle, DnB and Breaks etc, that's when I decided to buy my first turntables and started collecting vinyl. I started dj'ing properly at the age of 17 and I mainly played at illegal raves as well as some small pubs in my town. Without stating the obvious Reggae music as well as Dub and sound system culture has been a really important influence in my life and career and it was a combination of everything that led me into production.

Name three artists that have been your main influenced you as a DJ / producer?

One of my biggest musical influences is David Rodigan, he's done a very important job of bringing the Jamaican music culture to Europe, I love the way he treats and respects the music, and his dub plates of course! I have learnt a lot about reggae because of him and his shows, a living legend!

Another really important influence for me has to be Marcus Visionary (as well as Benny Page and the Serial Killaz). I love the way Marcus uses a lot of Dub and Reggae elements in his tracks and his production skills are absolutely amazing as he's been in the game for decades now.

Finally (and it's difficult as there are so many) I would have to say Cypress Hill. I've been listening to their music since I was a teenager and it's amazing to see they are still killing it, even inna Dubstep style with Rusko! Absolutely one of my all time favorite crews.

Tell us more about the Jungle scene in Tenerife and how it's different to the scene in other countries you've visited?

The Jungle scene in Tenerife is really small in perspective, we've only got 3 or 4 DJ's / Producers on the island but we're doing everything we can to create a proper scene here. I'm playing twice a month in one of the biggest clubs on the island, the support has been massive so far and is growing all the time! The main difference between other countries I think is the awareness and knowledge of the music itself, when I play in other countries I feel that the crowd understands the music, the dubplate culture and they know the difference between an original tune and a bootleg for example. I think we still need a couple of years to develop a proper Jungle scene on the island but we're committed to doing it.

What has been your most memorable gig as a DJ and a Producer to date?

I have had some special shows but probably the most memorable was "Tokyo Dub" in February 2013 at Motion in Bristol. I played after the Serial Killaz and before Jacky Murda and we literally smashed the place down! Was an epic session and really special for me.

On the production side, the most exciting experience so far was remixing Top Cat and Benny Page, probably 2 of my favourite artists. It was amazing to work on original material from them and releasing on High Culture as well as Jungle Cakes (my first 12'') was obviously a very special experience for me.

What makes you different to other producers out there and how would you define your sound?

I come from a really special place in the world, where it is always sunny and we've got a really big Latin / tropical influence in our culture, I reckon you can hear that in my tunes. When I go to the studio, what I want is to give my best in all aspects, both technically in terms of quality and when it comes to originality. I always try to keep learning to improve my sound and I make tunes for the crowd in terms of dance floor fun / impact and of course tunes fi di ladies! :)

Having just signed your first record deal what do you think the future holds and where do you see yourself in 2 years time!?

I can't thank Run Tingz enough for this opportunity, I feel like my work during all these years has finally been recognised. I've now got the opportunity to use this as a platform to develop my sound and my profile / career as an artist. I'm really happy to be part of the project and joining forces with the other two signings and young producers (J.Man and Dossa) makes me feel really comfortable. With the three of us alongside the Run Tingz Cru and producers like the Serial Killaz of course, I'm really excited to see what the future will bring to us! I can't really imagine myself in two years, but what I know now is that I'm going to work hard to create something big, offering good quality / original music and most importantly enjoy what we're doing everyday! It's all about love for the music.

For all upcoming releases from Ricky on Run Tingz and a number of other major players in the new school Jungle movement keep your eyes on his social media pages! GOAAAAAAAAAAAL!

RUN TINGZ DIGITAL 005 - RUN TINGZ REMIXES: VOLUME ONE - OUT NOW!

Mon, 27 May 2013

The summer is nearly here and tingz are heating up! Not weather- wise (come on, this is the UK!) but at the Run Tingz Bristol HQ.

Having blazed into 2013 with distinction - four massive releases, three new label signees, parties across the UK, an exclusive signing to the on-point Boom agency - the Cru now pull the biggest rewind of their lives and take us on a trip back to 2010/11 with their mos comprehensive dispatch to date.

With over three years of unique contemporary Jungle locked up in the bullet proof Run Tingz vault, they thought it high time they revisited the first four releases and the tracks that started their epic journey. Giving the parts to a select team of all-star remixers, the result is a sun-soaked package of seismic soundclash proportions.

'Jungle Champion' leads. Run Tingz debut label release, they've given new signing J.Man the duties and he's done them justice. Giving Blackout's throaty patter centre stage on the well known 'Real Rock" riddim, J strips the vibe back to a classic Jungle sub n' skank approach giving it an instant timeless vibe.

Serial Killaz follow. Taking the Run Tingz anthem 'Born Inna Babylon' to a much deeper pasture with a softer swing and more emphasis on the iconic horn riff, once again they show why they're the remixer of choice for many of the Jungle scene's influential figures. Whaoooo!

Up next, Northern Lights' take on the infamous 'Informer', a track so naughty they got Albert Square's finest to front the video. With playful treatment of the Golden Hen, Steppa and Kitcha lull you into a false sense of security. Then BANG: when that bass drops, you'll know all about it!

'Sweet Sunshine', meanwhile, has been expertly reworked another recent signing, Dossa. Complementing the sunny-side vibes of the original while adding his own party twist, the bass bubbles with a distinctive fuzzy, buzzy distorted funk that just won't quit.

Tenerife-based Ricky Tuff closes the show with his remix of 'I Got Love'. Warming the blend with deeper subs, skippier riddim work and punctual bass, it's yet another fine complement to the stunning vibes of the original and introduces the last in the hat trick of signings in true style.

Five key cuts that have helped shape the distinctive Run Tingz sound. Five fully charged festival shakers, primed and ready for sunny season and beyond. The summer is nearly here and our playlists are heating up!

RUN TINGZ RECORDINGS 009 - THE REVOLUTION TIME REMIXES - OUT NOW!

Mon, 29 April 2013

The South West's bass boutique Run Tingz have just completed their biggest release to date bar none… Ladies and gentlemen, revolution time is at hand.

Decorated vocal artist, and long-standing face at Run Tingz, YT has selected highlights from his ground breaking third album 'Revolution Time' with full blessing to 'go to town and Junglize' them. They've done what any astute artists would do in their situation and hooked up with their illustrious companions the Serial Killaz to produce a project that will wake waves the world over. A co-lab of killer proportions, make way for Killa Tingz…

'Revolution Time' is undiluted audio justice. Opening with cinematic sweeping synths and an epoch-defining news sample, the boys then throw us savagely into a series of blistered breakbeats and oozing subs. As YT's sing-song chatter re-emerges, it's a total revolution of the mind and senses.

Next up 'Save Mi Life': here we find the Serial Killaz going solo for a rifle-like skank-up. Teasing us with a well-known Toots bassline and another razor-sharp riddim, YT's tale of musical assistance in his journey from badman to mic professor is told so emphatically you'll be singing along before you've even made it to the break down. It's got anthem written all over it!

'Forward 2 Life' sees Run Tingz Cru dive deep into a major hype vibe; with dark stabs and pummelling drumwork, it's the ideal bed for YT's turbo-chatter. Heads down and rolling, complete with cool twists on the fills and an epic breakdown, it's a fine, fine fusion of lullaby Reggae and uncompromising Jungle science.

The generous EP ends on a softer, emotional note as YT and Dub Akom's 'Nah Gi Yu Weh' shows the crew flexing their melodic muscles. Highlighting the subtle lover's rock and dancehall flavours of the original, YT and Akom's heartfelt pledges remain the focus while the production duo accentuate the skank factor and polish the sweet textures of organic instrumentation to perfection.

Setting the benchmark once again with four 100% proof Ragga Jungle bangers. Revolution time is at hand… Are you ready for the fight?

1: Revolution Time [Serial Killaz & Run Tingz Remix]
2: Save Mi Life [Serial Killaz Remix]
3. Forward 2 Life [Run Tingz Cru Remix]
4. Nah Gi Yu Weh [Serial Killaz & Run Tingz Remix]

RUN TINGZ LOCK OFF BRISTOL'S DUB PLATE MUNCHING BADMAN

Tue, 9 April 2013

We're really pleased to announce the second of our 2013 artist signings! Already an honorary member of the Run Tingz camp, J.Man has been working closely with us and the label for the last couple of years. We thought it was time we offered the brother a proper record deal and the full support of the Run Tingz empire, we're very happy to have secured his signature and we're all very excited about what the future holds! We sat down with him to find out a little bit more on the man behind the dreadlocks!

What is your musical background and what was the reason you started dj'ing and getting into production?

I've been involved in music since I was about 11, I started out on the guitar in my mid teens, playing & writing Reggae in a band. I got into production because I was always fascinated in the electronic / technical side of things and I knew that if I wanted to achieve my potential I would need a sound knowledge of production and how it ties in with the whole live element. This led me to enrolling at the Access to Music College in Bristol, I got a set of turntables soon after that and started buying Jungle records. It was around this time that I started using Logic to mash up drum breaks and write my own tracks so it all just fell into place really!

Not long after I started playing regular gigs at underground clubs like the Black Swan & Basement 45 in Bristol, I was just playing with all my Bristol crew for ages but after linking up with Run Tingz and getting a residency at Tokyo Dub, I started playing alongside some very well known names and things really started to take off for me!

Name three artists that have influenced you as a producer?

Congo Natty, I remember a friend of mine played me Champion Deejay when I was a teenager and the combination of Reggae, Soul, Funk, Jungle & original vocals just blew me away! Legends!

Otis Redding, while he's not a Jungle artist his music inspires me in a completely different way. Every song he's recorded or performed is amazingly soulful and you can tell he puts everything he has into the performances!

King Tubby, for me he paved the way for the whole remix culture. I find it incredible the way he takes somebody else's music and transforms it into something completely different whilst still paying respect to the original.

Tell us more about the Jungle scene in your local area and how it's different to the scenes in other countries you've visited?

To be honest a lot of the countries that I have visited are very similar in many respects. The parties are all full of like-minded people and everyone's on a similar vibe, Jungle is like a universal language that we all relate to and understand! The scene in my hometown of Bristol is very strong, whether its a small underground party with local DJ's or an all star line up in a massive venue people love it, I think that's why a lot of the big players in the scene love coming here!

What are your most memorable experiences as a DJ and Producer to date?

As a DJ it's got to be one of the Tokyo Dub parties in Bristol about a year ago, one of the artists didn't turn up so I got to play the headline slot, the room was packed and it went down really well. Epic!

As a Producer it's got to be the first experiences of linking up with vocalists and voicing completely original tracks. The sessions were amazing and it was a real turning point for me (and a massive step up from the bootleg's I was doing at the time).

What makes you different to other producers out there and how would you define your sound?

I'd describe my sound as modern Dubwise / Jungle with Roots and Amen influences. I'm into recording my own instruments as I play guitar and I'm surrounded by musicians, I think this really helps my tunes stand out and this combined with my drum programming gives them real identity.

Having just signed your first major record deal what do you think the future holds and where do you see yourself in 2 years time!?

I'd like to build on the situation that I'm in now with more recognition, more DJ / radio support and more bookings of course! I've been out of the UK a few times this year but I want to travel to different countries, meet more people and show all the Jungle crews out there what I'm about. I also want to develop the work I'm doing with the vocalists, push my sound, the labels and make loads of music!

RUN TINGZ SIGN AUSTRIAN PRODUCER DOSSA

Fri, 5 April 2013

In line with our long term vision of descovering and developing up and coming talent, we're very pleased to announce the first of three (yes, three) Spring singings to the label! The others will be revealed over the coming weeks but with "Rock a Dub" (Dossa's debut project on the label) already smashing dancefloors and set to be a Summer anthem, we though it was about time we got to know him! We caught up with Dossa with the wonders of Skype to find out a bit more on his back ground and whats making him tick!

What is your musical background and what was the reason you started dj'ing and getting into production?

I started playing drums at the same time that I learned to speak and I took early music lessons playing Carillon and to learn how to read music. I started to take proper drum lessons at the age of six and was playing Heavy Metal by the time I was 12, as an early teenager my older brother lead me onto electronic music as he has been producing and DJ'ing House and Trance music since he was 16.

In 2007 I started producing on Zynewave Podium and put my first tracks up on MySpace that Autumn. We started to create more awareness of electronic music in the St. Poelten music scene and a year later in 2008 we (me and Selector Weasel J) won a DJ competition which helped to get our name about. We started getting bookings through which saw us perform at the legendary Urban Artforms Festival in St. Poelten and since then things have just been moving from strength to strength.

Name three artists that have influenced you as a producer?

Ed Rush & Optical
The former 'Full Cycle" crew (Roni Size, Krust, Dj Die, Clipz)
Camo and Krooked

Tell us more about the Jungle scene in your local area and how it's different to the scenes in other countries you've visited?

There is a good scene in Austria, St. Poelten has roughly 50,000 inhabitants and there's at least two monthly Drum & Bass parties, we're also only 60KM from Vienna where you'll massive Drum & Bass parties every weekend.

D.Kay, Camo and Krooked, Body and Soul and Mefjus (all Austrian producers) really pushed the Austrian scene on an international level so yea, there's definitely a good scene here. The only difference with countries like the UK for example is that I don't personally feel that Austria (as a whole) is quite ready for "underground music". Saying that, with the help of the artists that I mentioned and our crews in Vienna and STP the people are slowly starting to catch on, better understand the music and it's getting much bigger and the time.

What are your most memorable experiences as a DJ and Producer to date?

As a DJ the UrbanArtforms Festival (biggest underground music event in Austria), I was 17 and played a crowd of 2000+ people, something I'll never forget!

As Producer it was definitely establishing my own studio, it made me independent and was a massive turning point. I bought some Mackie monitors, a handful of controllers and a microphone, it meant I could work when I wanted, for as long as I wanted and could record what I wanted!

What makes you different to the other producers out there and how would you define your sound?

My education and formal training in music has helped me a lot, throughout music school I studied and took a lot of influences from a wide range of styles (Classical to Heavy Metal) and this has really helped my composition and given my DnB & Jungle productions a very musical feel!

I'd describe my sound as Dancefloor DnB / Jungle with a lot of influences from other musically artistic styles including Funk, Reggae, Orchestral, Classical and Jazz.

Having just signed your first major record deal what do you think the future holds and where do you see yourself in 2 years time!?

I'm really exited about the opportunity to work with Run Tingz and "Rock A Dub" is a great debut project on the label. I've got high expectation of myself and in 2 years I want to be seen as a household name in the Drum & Bass / Jungle community. Given my background I also want to keep pushing myself as an artist and want to develop other sounds and styles that will ultimately compliment the Ragga side of things and help me push myself as far as possible.

His debut single is availale now from all good on-line record stores and we've already got him working on a number of new projects which include a remix of our Summer time smahser "Sweet Sunshine" and a track for the forthcoming Blackout J.A EP.

You'll also be able to catch Dossa live in his UK Exclusive at the upcoming Revolution Time Tour (Bristol leg) at Trinity on the 31st of May!

RUN TINGZ DIGITAL 004 - ROCK A DUB - AVAILABLE 25.3.13

Fri, 8 March 2013

It might only be March, but 2013 is shaping up to be the year of the Junglist. It's about time… Exactly 20 years since seminal scene-shaping anthems such as Studio 2's 'Who Jah Bless' the fusion of reggae, ragga and firing breakbeats is still a huge influence on dancefloors. And Bristol beat boutique Run Tingz are leading the charge.

The second Run Tingz Digital dispatch of the year, 'Rock a Dub' is one of 12 big releases the label have locked and loaded for 2013… And the first one to herald two major artist deals!

Dossa is a young producer from the sleepy Austrian town of St Poelten. A drummer since the age of six, and producer since the age of 16, Dossa was brought up on a strict diet of beats thanks to his older brother. With fingers in both Drum & Bass and Jungle pies, his ragga-ravaged output can now be found exclusively on Run Tingz. And it starts here with this beautiful sing-along skank-up with fellow countryman Deliman.

'Rock a Dub' sparkles with instant uplift vibes. Opening with a rave-horn call to action, we're soon swept off our feet with a series of blistering breakbeats and Deliman's honey-soaked harmonies. One of Vienna's most in-demand vocalists, Deliman's mic-massaging bolsters Run Tingz on-going crusade for original vocal recordings. A contemporary Jungle lullaby, 'Rock A Dub' rolls with equal measures of embracive softness and bottom end badness - perfect for parties, festivals and end-of-night group hugs.

Never content with just one version, the camp have dished up two equally rocking rubs. The Run Tingz Cru step up first with their Bass Remix. Leaning heavily on the skank for a slightly deeper, dubbed out groove, the label heads pay full respect to the original while adding their own trademark dynamics. Fuelling the breakdown with an authentically classic and crackly reggae swing, the Bass Remix really lives up to its name when the drop comes into play. Turbo-charged low-end licks all the way, if this hasn't got your crowd skanking you're playing on the wrong bill.

Finally we hit J-Man's classically informed Jungle remix. Swapping the thick, textured breakbeats of Dossa's original for snappier, stripped-back drum work, J-Man dives deep into the groove using Deliman's full vocal and the juiciest bassline of the set. With ace Amen action and mesmerising levels of sub bass, it's yet another remix triumph for the label… And the start of an exciting relationship between the dub plate munching Bristol badman and Run Tingz. Like Dossa, he's just signed an exclusive two year deal with the label so expect big things…

Three killer tracks and a couple of two-year record deals. It looks like 2014 will be the year of the junglist too!

Go to the officia RUN TINGZ SHOP to listen and download the track!

MY SOUND - ARIES & GOLD FT. COWBOY RAS RANGER & 2NICE - 25.02.13

Sun, 17 February 2013

Hot on the heels of Capitol 1212's swagger-packed party piece 'Don Man Sound', Bristol's top rankin junglist crew Run Tingz deliver a weapon of mass destruction that's primed for the ultimate soundclash challenges.

Big up Aries & Gold, two of Birmingham's most respected producers. The dust has barely settled from last year's buzz-cut with David Boomah and Serocee on V Recordings and they're back, firing a 25 gun badboy salute that will guarantee maximum dancefloor participation.

'My Sound' will instantly trigger cake-sized grins the second the distinctive horn refrain from Sister Nancy's 'Bam Bam' ripples through the speakers. Then, before any sense of familiarity sets in, Aries & Gold's trademark razor-sharp beats ignite, as do the spitfire toasting talents of two legendary mic-monsters: Cowboy Ras Ranger and 2Nice. No strangers to soundclash culture, Ras and 2Nice go toe-to-toe with harmony and spirit, vibing off each other with both gutsy vigour and respect for the wild riddims imposed by Aries & Gold.

With two basslines and a toxic sub weaved tightly together, mirroring the duality of Ras and 2Nice, Aries & Gold's creation fires with every inch of jungle heritage but sparkles with breath-taking contemporary production values. Throw in a series of rusty rattling breakbeats and you've got yourself a bona fide soundclash banger.

Remix-wise the Run Tingz Cru have stepped up to provide their own touch. Paying complete respect to the original, the groove, vibe, vocals and horn hook remain intact while a new bassline and more stripped back breakbeats make their play amidst the mix. Ten per cent less jungle, ten per cent more drum & bass, it's the perfect complement to the applaud-worthy work of Aries & Gold

A smouldering slab of jungle from three of the UK's most exciting producers… And one of the UK's most exciting bass labels. Choose your soundclash battles well people. Go in, go hard, go for 'My Sound' and reap some serious dancefloor rewards.

DON MAN SOUND REMIXES - RUN TINGZ DIGITAL 002 - 21/01/13

Fri, 4 January 2013

Worldwide release date 21st of January 2013...

Igniting 2013 with some serious skankology, Bristol's Run Tingz Cru deliver one of their biggest releases to date…

With their A&R skills sharpened and set to stun, Run Tingz quickly recognised the Drum & Bass and Jungle potential in Capitol 1212's iconic 'Don Man Sound' and have revisioned it with two of their trademark dancefloor-driven rubs.

First up, the Run Tingz Jungle remix: No genre complements Tenor Fly's toasting more than Jungle, and this is verified proof: kicking off with a snatch of snappy beat-driven bars, nothing can prepare you for the dubby skank sonics that lay in wait. Bumping and grinding with energy and perfect pace, it pays respect to Tenor's emphatic vocals while making the tune totally their own.

Not content with one massive speaker-shattering reversion, Run Tingz have also served up a Dirty remix for the bass heads among us. Opening with icy pads, it's an instant stepback to the golden age of rave. Then, just as you've called up every surviving member of your whistle crew, in comes the wasp-like contemporary bassline, sizzling with 50 shades of menace. As elements old and new fuse with fury, this just keeps on giving.

Fans of the Capitol 1212 swagger-soaked party joint, originally released in 2010, are also treated to a re-mastered version fresh for the New Year. Rolling on a heavy hip-hop break, the track oozes party flare, gradually building with a well-crafted horn refrain and a lyrical elasticity that conjures memories of Tenor's trailblazing heritage work with the Freestylers in the late 90s. It's the ultimate buzz cut fuelled and fronted by one of the most distinctive mic maestros in the game, drop this at any gathering and you're guaranteed glorious vibes.

Cementing Run Tingz reputation as true Jungle connoisseurs, the South West sound scientists are about to give 2013 a dancefloor schooling. 'Don Man Sound' is the ultimate statement of intent. Recognise!

RUN TINGZ 007 "HUSTLER" HAS LANDED

Mon, 28 May 2012

Run Tingz Recordings drops its seventh slab of reggae-inflected, speaker-shaking drum & bass just in time for summer.

OFFICIAL VIDEO

The Killa Tingz moniker might not be one you recognise immediately, but take a closer look and the clues are in the name. After working together over the past 18 months, Killa Tingz represents the combined skills and efforts of label bosses Run Tingz Cru and their studio mentors; highly rated reggae remix masters the Serial Killaz.

With the Run Tingz Cru's stock rapidly rising thanks to their solid productions, incredible live shows and packed-out Run Tingz Sessions events, and Serial Killaz continually consolidating a reputation as the jungle legend's remixers of choice with their impeccable studio skills, you've got every reason to get just a little bit excited about this release... And with bonafide UK reggae legend YT providing vocals across the track, and hotly-tipped UK hip-hop stalwart KNERS dropping bars on the 'Stadium DNB' remix on the flip, you don't need to turn on your turntable to know this record is something a little bit special.

'Hustler' epitomises what Run Tingz is all about - classic reggae elements fused to a solid backbone of dancefloor pleasing drum & bass. YT belts out a heart-felt hook backed by powerful organ chords and sky-reaching horns before, BOOM, a deliciously deep, quivering bassline drops in and YT unleashes his inimitable microphone patter. Huge isn't the word. On the flip, coming straight out of Run Tingz Cru's home city of Bristol, KNERS provides vocal touches for the 'Stadium DNB' remix, a powerful peak-time smasher that reworks the track's elements into drum & bass's most modern and current style, and that's sure to carry the track and the Killa Tingz name to new heights.

With heavy support coming from A-list tastemakers such as DJ Hype and Nicky Blackmarket, rest assured this first official Killa Tingz collaboration certainly won't be the last!

Sat, 24 December 2011

So with the new year nearly upon us we're really excited to announce the launch of the "RUN TINGZ SESSIONS". It's been a long time coming but good things really do come to those that wait and the launch party (which ties in nicely with a release party for Run Tingz Recordings 007 "Hustler") will take place in Bristol (UK) on Friday the 2nd of March 2012 at the world famous Blue Mountain club!

RUN TINGZ SESSIONS will showcase the very best of the new school talent and cutting edge artists that are tearing up the worldwide Jungle and Drum N Bass scenes (with the odd veteran thrown in for good measure!). Keeping true to the labels manifesto we will also have a room dedicated to Reggae, Dancehall & Bashment with some of the finest UK Reggae artists and some local legends set to make an appearance!

RUN TINGZ DIGITAL 001 - BUN BABYLON (PURIFY THE SYSTEM)

Wed, 12 October 2011

Run Tingz Digital is a brand new digital record label from the Bristol based Run Tingz Studios and has been created to help push our artists and give us the opportunity to keep the flow of fresh material rolling in an extremely fast moving and ever changing music scene. The releases on Run Tingz Digital will be available exclusively on digital formats but fear not, the projects and releases on Run Tingz Recordings will continue to be available on limited edition 12" vinyl (and digital formats) from all major outlets!

The debut release sets the bar high once again and is the 3rd official studio collaboration between the Run Tingz Cru and their illustrious mentors the Serial Killaz! The release features an original recording by one of the UK Jungle scenes tru veterans Tenor Fly alongside the the labels in house Jamaican badman Blackout J.A! Inspired by the rioting and uprising we've seen in the UK (and all over the world) this summer, Bun Babylon (Purify the System) carries a positive message to people around the world about the importance of conscious action and highlights some of the injustice that we face in these difficult times.

Both tracks will be available from the 19th of December 2012 from all major digital outlets and the official Run Tingz website. We want to thank everyone for their support in 2011 and 2012 is already shaping up to be bigger, badder and better than anything we've seen so far!

Label: Run Tingz Digital
Title: Bun Babylon (Purify the System)
Artists: Serial Killaz, Run Tingz Cru, Tenor Fly, Blackout J.A

Based on the feedback that we've had from this track (coupled with the fact he's a true legend to work with) we've recently recorded 2 more tracks with Tenor Fly (featuring Blackout J.A and Lady MC) and they are already shaping up to be proper anthems! RUNNIN WITH RUN TINGZ... KNOWLEDGE MAGAZINE ARTICLE

Sat, 28 May 2011

We're please to share with you an extract from a recent magazine article on Run Tingz Recordings in Knowledge Magazine. Knowledge or KMAG.CO.UK as it is now known, is recognisied by many as one of the worlds leading publication within the Drum & Bass industry. We're honered to receive such a positive write up and our thanks goes out to Ragga Scum and the rest of the Knowledge crew.

"In less than a year the duo of G. Tactix and LXP have transformed what was once a dream into one of the biggest rising vinyl labels in ragga jungle today. The Run Tingz camp, who just released the hit Informer with original vocals by Blackout J.A. and rising hip-hop artist K*Ners, now sets their sights on slating release number four which should be as explosive as the rest of their catalog".

"A source from inside the camp has told us that future tunes will include remixes from Congo Natty's own, Top Cat and Lady MC, as well as edits by David Boomah and Solo Banton. This should come as no surprise as current remixes already exist from Aries of Chopstick Dubplate on Informer, Debaser on Jungle Champion, and Jacky Murda's remix of Born Inna Babylon - which hit #2 on Juno's DNB charts as well as extensive air time on Kool FM".

RUN TINGZ RECORDINGS 004... THE SUMMER TIME EP

Fri, 27 May 2011

The fourth release on Run Tingz Recordings is a sun drenched, double A side, just in time to lively up the dance for the summer festival season…

The new release shows significant development on the vocalist and production front and has seen the cru achieve recognition and DJ support from the likes of the Serial Killaz, Benny Page, Kool Fm's Souljah & Terry T, Aries and many more across the UK and Europe.

The first tune on this release (Sweet Sunshine) features the original ganja smoking herbman hustling, sensimilla smuggling... one and only TopCat! Toasting his unmistakable style over another reggae drenched Run Tingz riddim, this energetic track is reminiscent of sweet summer ravers brocking out on the beaches.

The bubbling bassline on the flipside showcases the labels very own Blackout J.A and the award winning female artist Lady MC with a real lovers-rock infused drum and bass number. The infectious melody in I Got Love 4U really sets of the charm in this summery swinger and is already shaking up dance floors across the globe!

This release is guaranteed to get the man dem bouncing and girl fam grinding… an essential purchase for the summer!

Out on 12" from June and Digital from July 2011

With over 9 record labels, 10 sound systems, 11 promoters and over 49 artists this event is due to be epic by any ones standards.
